Malki Museum Events

The Malki Museum sponsors three main events each year which are designed to be traditional and educational.

The Fall Gathering

At our annual Fall Gathering there are more demonstrations, lectures (by Dr. Katherine Siva Saubel and Alvino Siva), and of course, food tasting! This event is held usually in late October, and features Indian arts, crafts, and games, as well as Cahuilla harvest foods such as wewish (acorn mush), a time-consuming but staple dish. The demonstrations often include Cahuilla bird singing, basket weaving, acorn leaching and grinding, pottery making, and flint-knapping.
